Against a top defense in the country, winning games is hard. However, when you give the ball away 27 times, hard turns to nearly impossible.
The 81-57 loss to the hands of VCU was the largest defeat of the season for Rhode Island, who previously only lost by a cap of 13 points.
The season-high in giveaways for Rhody were not received well by home fans, as boos could be heard from the crowd before some supporters decided to hit the road early and beat the traffic home.
The full court press from VCU affected all, as the Rams did not have a single player without a turnover throughout the 40-minute contest.
The Rams offensively were led by senior guard Sebastian Thomas once again, whose 19 points provided a small glimmer of success to take towards the weekend.
Rhode Island is back in action this coming Saturday when they travel to La Salle for a matinee matchup in Philadelphia. The game tips-off at 2 p.m., and can be streamed on ESPN+, with a radio broadcast available on the Varsity Network.
